Tillol, a 3 bedroom house set on a hillside in 5 hectares of un-overlooked pastures

and woods at the end of a lane. One of three gites which their own terraces and share a beautiful swimming pool
This lovely

typical Perigordian cottage is part of a small private hamlet, situated on 5 hectares of woods and pasture on a hillside with

wide-open views. The calm location at the end of a country lane, overlooking magnificent views ensures peace, quiet and

privacy. The owners are Swiss nationals, speak French, English and German and live here all year round with their friendly

dog.
The property has been amazingly renovated to a very high standard.
Tillol sleeps 6-8 but can be booked with one or

more of the other two cottages for larger groups of up to 16.
The cottage has a fabulous large beamed living with some

exposed stone walls, a massive farmhouse style dining table and two leather sofas. There is a beautiful huge open fire place

and an ancient free standing enameled wood burner, although the cottage is centrally heated. There is a television for

checking up on local weather.
Leading from the living room is a small sitting room, which for parties of eight, is made

into a bedroom with a lovely corner fireplace. This leads to the master bedroom with a double bed and stunning views. Four

steps up in the corner take you to the en-suite shower room/toilet.
The staircase from the living room takes you to a

bedroom under the eaves with 3-4 single beds and a bathroom.
There is a farmhouse style kitchen which offers all modern

conveniences. There is a dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and fridge with a small internal freezer section, to make

your life a little easier.
There is also another downstairs toilet.
Outside there is a covered private terrace with a

built in barbeque, garden table and chairs and a parasol.
Bedding is included and all beds are made up ready for your

arrival.
If ordered the day before, bread will be delivered to your door each morning.
It is possible to arrange for a

meal to be prepared for your arrival if requested.
The beautiful rolling, gentle hills are broken up by woodland and well

kept gardens with a lovely 11 x 5 meter pool with a terrace round the pool. The pool is un-overlooked by outsiders.
There

is a petanque area, badminton and other games for your enjoyment and a field for ball games.
There is also a communal

courtyard which is planted with flower beds.
The house is 5 minutes drive from Sauveterre-la-Lemance (Lot et Garonne)

where a boulangerie, butcher, grocery shop, chemist, petrol station, garage, post office, several bars and an excellent

restaurant are located. It is 9 minutes drive from Villefranche-du-Perigord (Dordogne), a 13th century bastide town with

restaurants, cafes, 2 butchers, 2 boulangeries, a chemist and many other amenities (ATM, bank, petrol station etc). For

larger supermarkets, and cheaper petrol stations, Fumel is only about 15 kilometers away.
If you need a bout of more

serious shopping during your stay, Bergerac, Villeneuve-sur-Lot and Cahors are easily accessible. Cahors in particular has a

lovely town, and a river frontage where boat trips along the Lot can be taken - remember also to stop off for a wander around

Preyssac on your way to Cahors, particularly on Thursday morning for the large market around its beautiful Church.
Local

markets occur most days and some nights in surrounding towns and villages. Excellent local produce such as lamb, all

vegetables, all fruits, especially the local strawberries, cheese and wine (Red: Cahors, White: Bergerac and Gaillac) make

the area superb for eating at home or out in the local restaurants.
The surrounding country is green and hilly with

stunning views. The famous 12th century castle of Bonaguil is only 20 minutes drive away. There are numerous medieval

villages and chateaux to explore in the area such as Monpazier and Biron. Canoeing, fishing, water-skiing and other water-

based activities are available on the River Lot near Fumel.
Walking, cycling, golf, and canoeing on the Dordogne are

probably the most popular outdoor activities here in the Dordogne and the Lot departments. Painting is also pursued by

several of our guests, with the fantastic views. If that is too quiet for you track down the annual village fetes held by all

the towns in the area - a night of eating, drinking and music takes over the town and carries on late into the night.
The

Dordogne is one of the gastronomic centers of France, famous for its foie gras, duck, truffles, mushrooms and seafood. There

are many excellent inexpensive restaurants in the area using traditional recipes.
Just down the road is Villefranche du

Perigord, a traditional bastide village of the Dordogne with an attractive covered market on Saturday mornings. With its

cobbled roads this is one of the most beautiful villages in the region.
The area is also well known for its wines. The

world famous vineyards of Medoc and St Emilion are close by and the local wines of Bergerac, Yquem, Monpazier and Cahors are

also excellent.
The area is rich in pageantry. The English ruled Aquitaine for 300 years in the Middle Ages under the

Plantaganets and there are many castles, bastide towns and fortified churches for you to visit.
